What Next

End of year message By Pastor H.

2010 to me was a very interesting year. I had plenty of challenges and tests. I had my failures and mistakes. To me, these offered some learning opportunities and experience which "could not have been substituted by anything"! But I also thank God because I had some successes and victories. As I look to 2011, yes I expect more challenges; there are decisions that I have made which mean more challenges for me in the coming year. But there is something I understand, as somebody said and I quote, "champions are born out of challenges". In 2010, there are four areas or decisions that I had made and failed to make meaningful achievement. I have other clear and or distinct areas where God did for me more than I had expected. I have three major areas or purposes in life in addition to my family;

  1. Ministry
  2. Business
  3. Leadership

When I measure myself, I use the above key result areas, so, I also got victory in some areas I had planned in relation to the above grand bench marks of my life. In 2011 among other things, there are four things areas I need to launch (new things / direction) watch!

I want to encourage you; you may not have seen many positives in your life in 2010. You may have failed everything you planned or achieved a small percentage of your plans. Do not worry; there is still room and space to achieve. The worst thing you can do for yourself is to restrain from planning and having expectations for the coming year(s). There is a saying, "winners never quit and quitters never win".

Expect positives in the coming year. Do not always expect the negative or the worst to happen. I am not saying expect a smooth sailing or flow of things in your life but I am saying expect some achievements, successes and victories. You may not have 100% victory but at least you will win some. You may be late in some areas of your life but it is better to start than never. There has to be some progress, growth and development in your life. You should not be found where you have always been! Life is a process; it is a step at a time. It is dangerous to sit down and expect things to work out on their own, but, it is equally dangerous to expect to achieve everything at one go. There are things I am seeing fruit in my life now that I started working on and praying for over ten years ago. There is need for patience in life. In 2010, my/our motto was flying higher! I am very positive I moved higher in my life in some facets. In the beginning of the year I also talked about relationships, I made some progress in evaluating and developing my friendships.

As we look forward to 2011 and beyond, I believe we need to also focus on walking in love. As we move higher in life, as we achieve our dreams, as we fight our battles, we should NEVER forget to walk in love primarily to God but more to others. The bible says, technically, to love God is proved by loving other people. Failure to walk in love will deter you from achieving the best and will limit your achievements. We need to care for others and do our best to live peaceable with other people. Aim at being fruitful, resourceful and a blessing to somebody. That will not be easy because success on its own will bring enemies. When you achieve in life not everybody will be happy, you will attract criticism and resentment especially from the mediocre. Something that I have also noted in life is that greatness and success always attract controversy. It can be perceived and sometimes actual controversy. Check for any great leader whether in the bible, circular history or wherever, I am yet to see one that did not or does not attract controversy. So, to dream about achieving and succeeding without budgeting for criticism is rather close to if not actual being deceived.

Finally, I pray for the all the best for you in the coming year(s). May you succeed and prosper in all you do. May you live to fulfil your God ordained purpose or destiny. May you be a blessing to others. May God rejoice and "smile" on you. May you be protected and preserved. May you be victorious in every sphere and area of your life. I count myself blessed to have you in my life. I do not take you for granted; I appreciate and value you in my life.

Please take time also to read the following scriptures:

Mark 10:28 ¶ Peter began to say to Him, "Behold, we have left everything and followed You."

Mark 10:29 Jesus said, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel's sake,

Mark 10:30 but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life.

Luke 14:27 "Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple.

Luke 14:28 "For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?

Luke 14:29 "Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who observe it begin to ridicule him,

Luke 14:30 saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.'

Jer 29:11 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

Jer 29:12 'Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.

Jer 29:13 'You will seek Me and find {Me} when you search for Me with all your heart.

Jer 33:2 "Thus says the LORD who made {the earth,} the LORD who formed it to establish it, the LORD is His name,

Jer 33:3 'Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'

John 13:34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

John 13:35 "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

Rom 5:5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

1 Cor 13:1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.

1 Cor 13:2 If I have {the gift of} prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

1 Cor 13:3 And if I give all my possessions to feed {the poor,} and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.

1 Cor 13:4 ¶ Love is patient, love is kind {and} is not jealous; love does not brag {and} is not arrogant,

1 Cor 13:5 does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong {suffered,}

1 Cor 13:6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;

1 Cor 13:7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

1 Cor 13:8 ¶ Love never fails; but if {there are gifts of} prophecy, they will be done away; if {there are} tongues, they will cease; if {there is} knowledge, it will be done away.

1 John 4:7 ¶ Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

1 John 4:8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

1 John 4:9 By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.

1 John 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son {to be} the propitiation for our sins.

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

1 John 4:12 No one has seen God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.

We are in War part3

5. Our Canaan

• 1 Cor 10:1 FOR I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, that our forefathers were all under {and} protected by the cloud [in which God's Presence went before them], and every one of them passed safely through the [Red] Sea, 1 Cor 10:2 And each one of them [allowed himself also] to be baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea [they were thus brought under obligation to the Law, to Moses, and to the covenant, consecrated and set apart to the service of God]; 1 Cor 10:3 And all [of them] ate the same spiritual (supernaturally given) food, 1 Cor 10:4 And they all drank the same spiritual (supernaturally given) drink. For they drank from a spiritual Rock which followed them [produced by the sole power of God Himself without natural instrumentality], and the Rock was Christ. 1 Cor 10:5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with the great majority of them, for they were overthrown {and} strewn down along [the ground] in the wilderness. 1 Cor 10:6 Now these things are examples (warnings and admonitions) for us not to desire {or} crave {or} covet {or} lust after evil {and} carnal things as they did. 1 Cor 10:7 Do not be worshipers of false gods as some of them were, as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink [the sacrifices offered to the golden calf at Horeb] and rose to sport (to dance and give way to jesting and hilarity). 1 Cor 10:8 We must not gratify evil desire {and} indulge in immorality as some of them did--and twenty-three thousand [suddenly] fell {dead} in a single day! 1 Cor 10:9 We should not tempt the Lord [try His patience, become a trial to Him, critically appraise Him, and exploit His goodness] as some of them did--and were killed by poisonous serpents; 1 Cor 10:10 Nor discontentedly complain as some of them did--and were put out of the way entirely by the destroyer (death). 1 Cor 10:11 Now these things befell them by way of a figure [as an example and warning to us]; they were written to admonish {and} fit us for right action by good instruction, we in whose days the ages have reached their climax (their consummation and concluding period). 1 Cor 10:12 Therefore let anyone who thinks he stands [who feels sure that he has a steadfast mind and is standing firm], take heed lest he fall [into sin].

• Deut 11:21 That your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, as long as the heavens are above the earth.

• I believe Canaan is not a type of heaven as some think

• In Canaan, there was war and fighting, there were giants & enemies, etc, that will not be there in heaven!

• ` Even today, Israel is still fighting to possess and defend their land!

• In our Canaan, we need to defend or stand against habits, sicknesses, failure, poverty, etc

• Canaan, I believe is the kind of life that God wants us to enjoy in this life before heaven.

• I believe Canaan is the life where there is success, prosperity, healthy, abundance, the best life where we live in His perfect will and our relationship is alright with God.

• A life of victory, Rom 5:17 For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

• Example, the process that Israel went through:

Bondage > Freedom > Wilderness > Possession

• Finally, they got the freedom with some riches but they still needed to get into their own land (Ex 12 v32-41)

• The process to Canaan took forty years, many could not make it there, but died in the wilderness

• What kept them long in the wilderness and what eventually lead to some dying was their attitude

• The enemy could not physically hold them in Egypt/ bondage but their minds were still bound (Num 11 v4-8)

• When things got tough, they remembered Egypt! (Num 14 v1-4)

• The process of the wilderness was basically to help them in change of mentality from slavery to freedom and then to possession

• They had to rely on God and lived on manna and water miracles, this among other things was meant to teach them dependence on God

• The bible says their clothes did not grow old; they were under supernatural provision and did not necessarily work for it! (Neh 9v5-21)

• The bible says what happened to Israel was for our learning/ example. (1Cor 10v1-13)

• In every area of our lives, we go through the above processes, whether in our spiritual lives, financial, health, etc

• The above processes cannot not be avoided, when one is missed, it will affect us in another level

• Wilderness process is difficult and takes a lot of mentality shift but easier that possession because it’s all under supernatural provision

• When we get to possession, we start the process of fighting, possessing and working

• Manna stopped coming when they got into Canaan, no more water from the rock, now they have to till the land! (Josh 5 v1-12)

• In Canaan they needed to fight to posses the land

• Their provision was now dependant on their working and obeying God.

6. We need to posses the land

• Josh 1:1 AFTER THE death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses' minister, Josh 1:2 Moses My servant is dead. So now arise [take his place], go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land which I am giving to them, the Israelites. Josh 1:3 Every place upon which the sole of your foot shall tread, that have I given to you, as I promised Moses. Josh 1:4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon to the great river Euphrates--all the land of the Hittites [Canaan]--and to the Great [Mediterranean] Sea on the west shall be your territory. Josh 1:5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you. Josh 1:6 Be strong (confident) and of good courage, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Josh 1:7 Only you be strong and very courageous, that you may do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you. Turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. Josh 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe {and} do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely {and} have good success. Josh 1:9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong, vigorous, and very courageous. Be not afraid, neither be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Josh 1:10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, Josh 1:11 Pass through the camp and command the people, Prepare your provisions, for within three days you shall pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.

• Josh 18:3 Joshua asked the Israelites, How long will you be slack to go in and possess the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you?

• Josh 17:18 But the hill country shall be yours; though it is a forest, you shall clear and possess it to its farthest borders; for you shall drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots and are strong.

• Judg 2:6 And when Joshua had let the people go, the Israelites went every man to his inheritance to possess the land.

• Josh 14:6 Then the people of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God concerning me and you in Kadesh-barnea. 7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh-barnea to scout out the land. And I brought him a report as it was in my heart. 8 But my brethren who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt; yet I wholly followed the Lord my God. 9 And Moses swore on that day, Surely the land on which your feet have walked shall be an inheritance to you and your children always, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.10 And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years since the Lord spoke this word to Moses, while the Israelites wandered in the wilderness; and now, behold, I am this day eighty-five years old. 11 Yet I am as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me; as my strength was then, so is my strength now for war and to go out and to come in.12 So now give me this hill country of which the Lord spoke that day. For you heard then how the [giantlike] Anakim were there and that the cities were great and fortified; if the Lord will be with me, I shall drive them out just as the Lord said.13 Then Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh for an inheritance. 14 So Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed the Lord, the God of Israel.

• Caleb was one of the only two people from the old generation to enter Canaan, but after almost five years, he had not received his promised inheritance, he had to go to Joshua and ask / demand his inheritance. At times we need to rise up and claim what is rightfully ours or else we will not possess it!

• Caleb said he had the same strength he had when he was 40, he says, “…give me this mountain, I will drive them out…” this is the language of a man of war!

• If you do not rise up to do something, nothing will happen, you will keep on crying and complaining.

7. Danger of weakness / laziness (as warriors)

• Prov 24:30 I went by the field of the lazy man, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding; Prov 24:31 And, behold, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles were covering its face, and its stone wall was broken down. Prov 24:32 Then I beheld {and} considered it well; I looked {and} received instruction.

8. We need to keep the land / our possession

• 2 Sam 23:12 But he stood in the midst of the ground and defended it and slew the Philistines; and the Lord wrought a great victory.

• Stand your ground, stand in the promises or Word of God, and refuse to budge.

• To enjoy your Canaan, it is up to you, God have already given you the capacity.

• Example is:

 David versus Goliath, 1Samuel 17v45-51

 The woman with the issue of blood, Mark 5v25-34

 Moses also at the Red sea, Exodus 14v13-30.

 Paul in the sea on the way to Rome, Acts 27v24-27.

• In the above examples, they realized that they could do something themselves and the power of God will manifest, they did even pray!

i) Declare / Say it (promise)

ii) Do it, act. Do a corresponding action, move towards it, do something.

iii) Receive it / possess it.

iv) Tell it/ declare what you receives

 To keep the land / your possession, you need a resistant attitude / mentality

Jer 12:5 [But the Lord rebukes Jeremiah's impatience, saying] If you have raced with men on foot and they have tired you out, then how can you compete with horses? And if [you take to flight] in a land of peace where you feel secure, then what will you do [when you tread the tangled maze of jungle haunted by lions] in the swelling {and} flooding of the Jordan?

Jer 12:6 For even your brethren and the house of your father--even they have dealt treacherously with you; yes, even they are [like a pack of hounds] in full cry after you. Believe them not, though they speak fair words {and} promise good things to you.

• In the above scripture, God implies that we need to develop some muscle

• He is saying we need to be resistant and be able to endure challenges

• There is nothing good or great in life that will come easily

• Those that are believing for an easy life are mislead

• In other words, we need to grow in our resistant or fighting spirit

• We need to race with man, last year(s) we were racing with man, we had small challenges and victories

• The years ahead, we need to expect more, the higher you want to go, the more challenges you must expect

• We believe we are moving higher this year, the stake of challenges will be higher, we will now race with horses and not footman!

• We are moving from the secure land to the jungle of the Jordan.

• If you will move higher, there is more sacrifice, more battles, more resistance, more challenges!

• More reading, more studying, more discipline, more praying, more investing, more giving, more risks

• Invest more in line with your land, when you want to be a doctor, pursue medicine studies, have doctor friends / mentors, buy medicine books/ material, read more along those lines, prepare yourself even before you get the opportunity to actual go to college.

• Let opportunity find you ready and already in motion.

• Develop excellence and skill in your area.

• The higher the return, the higher the risks.

• This race is not for the weak or feeble, it is for the strong, so, train yourselves.

MLB 1 Corinthians 16:13 Be alert; stand firm in the faith; play the man; be strong.

ASV 1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

KJV-R (Webster) 1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

Young's Literal 1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand in the faith; be men, be strong;

Amplified 1 Cor 16:13 Be alert {and} on your guard; stand firm in your faith (your conviction respecting man's relationship to God and divine things, keeping the trust and holy fervor born of faith and a part of it). Act like men {and} be courageous; grow in strength!

The Message 1Cor 16:13 Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions, give it all you've got, be resolute,

• In our quest for success, growth, development, progress, etc, we need to: be alert, be on guard, watch, stand firm, play the man, act like man, be courageous, be strong, grow in strength.

• In cannot be business as usual, if you expect an extraordinary life, do the extra ordinary

• Your dreams will not come or be fulfilled easy, you will not move higher easily, take action, put more effort.

• We have realized to move higher, we need to take action and line up with that thinking, act like people who are moving higher, we cannot continue like everything in normal and expect a change!

Prov 24:16 For a righteous man falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked are overthrown by calamity.

• Do not just be weak, do not like quitting, be resistant

• Life situations, sin, the devil, failure, etc may knock you down seven times, but wake up, do not lie down!

• I did not say you will not face failure at times, but, do not stop there, rise up and continue.

1 Cor 9:26 Therefore I do not run uncertainly (without definite aim). I do not box like one beating the air {and} striking without an adversary.

• Paul says I run, I box!

• There are times when your muscles will be sore, you will be bleeding, your face swollen, will be down and the enemy standing over you so to speak, but that is not the end, fight on!

2 Chr 15:7 Be strong, therefore, and let not your hands be weak {and} slack, for your work shall be rewarded.

Ezra 4:4 Then [the Samaritans] the people of the land [continually] weakened the hands of the people of Judah and troubled {and} terrified them in building

Neh 6:9 For they all wanted to frighten us, thinking, Their hands will be so weak that the work will not be done. But now strengthen my hands!

Job 4:3 Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands.

Is 35:3 Strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble {and} tottering knees.

Heb 12:12 So then, brace up {and} reinvigorate {and} set right your slackened {and} weakened {and} drooping hands and strengthen your feeble {and} palsied {and} tottering knees,

We are in Part2

1. We need to fight / Have a fighting spirit / attitude

 Have you ever asked yourself why did God start with the Old Testament and give all that history?

 Introduction, we need to realize that what happened in the Old Testament was a shadow or type of the time we live in or the New Testament.

 1Cor 10v1 &11, says those things happened for our example.

 Examples, there is Adam in Eden and there is Adam Jesus, Abraham had a child with Hagar and Sarah, Paul says Sarah is the mother of us all, Abraham had Isaac and Ishmael and Paul says Isaac is a child of promise like us, Many Psalms by David had to do with actual situations that David went through but they also had a prophetic insight or truth, the rock that gave Israel water in the wilderness is said to be Christ, Gal 4 v22-31, the Passover and deliverance of Israel from Egypt is also a type of our deliverance from sin, Moses before he died promised that God will raise another prophet, I believe he literally meant Joshua who is also a type of Christ, God promised David king son who I believe was literally Solomon but also a type of Christ.

 So, many things of the Old Testament are an example or type of what we are today, most of the Old Testament things were physical and in our case are spiritual!

 We need to realize that life is a process or a journey that will need strength, wisdom, hard work, fighting, etc

 We need to realize that life and success is not an event, but a process of fighting and consistency

 E.g. there is somebody that can look at me and think the little that I am, is or was achieved over night, materially, I have been gainfully employed for 13 years, of those years, 7, I have been an Accountant.

 I have been in church and mainly youth leadership for 15 years and in Lobengula l have been in different types or levels of leadership for 13 years.

 The “little” that I have seen and experienced was not prayed through in one day but years of seeking God and working, it’s a process!

• Judg 3:1 NOW THESE are the nations which the Lord left to prove Israel by them, that is, all in Israel who had not previously experienced war in Canaan;

• 2 Sam 23:8-23, These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth, a Tahchemonite, chief of the Three [heroes], known also as Adino the Eznite; he wielded his spear and went against 800 men, who were slain at one time. Next to him among the three mighty men was Eleazar son of Dodo, son of Ahohi. He was with David when they defied the Philistines assembled there for battle, and the men of Israel had departed. [Eleazar] arose and struck down the Philistines until his hand was weary and clung to the sword. The Lord wrought a great deliverance {and} victory that day; the men returned after him only to take the spoil. Next to [Eleazar] was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines were gathered at Lehi on a piece of ground full of lentils; and the [Israelites] fled from the Philistines. But he stood in the midst of the ground and defended it and slew the Philistines; and the Lord wrought a great victory. And three of the thirty chief men went down at harvest time to David in the cave of Adullam, and a troop of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim. And David was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem. And David said longingly, Oh, that someone would give me a drink of water from the well of Bethlehem by the gate! And the three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem by the gate and brought it to David. But he would not drink it, but poured it out to the Lord. And he said, Be it far from me, O Lord, to drink this. Is it not [the same as] the blood of the men who went at the risk of their lives? So he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men. Now Abishai the brother of Joab son of Zeruiah was chief of the Three. He wielded his spear against 300 men and slew them, and won a name beside the Three. Was he not most renowned of the Three? So he was their captain; however, he did not attain to the Three. And Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done many notable acts, slew two lionlike men of Moab. He went down also and slew a lion in a pit on a snowy day. And he slew an Egyptian, a handsome man. The Egyptian had a spear in his hand, but Benaiah went down to him with a staff, snatched the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew the man with his own spear. These things Benaiah son of Jehoiada did, and won a name beside the three mighty men. He was more renowned than the Thirty, but he attained not to the [first] Three. David set him over his guard {or} council. Asahel brother of Joab was one of the Thirty; then Elhanan son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

• Neh 4:13 So I set [armed men] behind the wall in places where it was least protected; I even thus used the people as families with their swords, spears, and bows. Neh 4:14 I looked [them over] and rose up and said to the nobles and officials and the other people, Do not be afraid of the enemy; [earnestly] remember the Lord {and} imprint Him [on your minds], great and terrible, and [take from Him courage to] fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes. Neh 4:15 And when our enemies heard that their plot was known to us and that God had frustrated their purpose, we all returned to the wall, everyone to his work. Neh 4:16 And from that time forth, half of my servants worked at the task, and the other half held the spears, shields, bows, and coats of mail; and the leaders stood behind all the house of Judah. Neh 4:17 Those who built the wall and those who bore burdens loaded themselves so that everyone worked with one hand and held a weapon with the other hand, Neh 4:18 And every builder had his sword girded by his side, and so worked. And he who sounded the trumpet was at my side. Neh 4:19 And I said to the nobles and officials and the rest of the people, The work is great and scattered, and we are separated on the wall, one far from another. Neh 4:20 In whatever place you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us.

 The above scriptures show us that Israel was a fighting nation / people and God was with them in fighting.

 There are things that you need to fight for and defend

 We need to be radical, resilient, and fight

 We should not just be docile and let things happen on their own

 People associate Christianity with weakness, laziness, failure, indecision, etc but the bible show that Christianity is power, strength, dedication, vision, commitment, etc

 There are situations that you experience to equip and strengthen you

 You produce after your kind, David was a warrior, he also trained and produced mighty man/ warriors, who you are attached to or relate to will either make a fighter or weak!

• Eph 6:10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Eph 6:11 Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies {and} the deceits of the devil. Eph 6:12 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. Eph 6:13 Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist {and} stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].

• 2 Cor 10:3 For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh {and} using mere human weapons.2 Cor 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow {and} destruction of strongholds,2 Cor 10:5 [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments {and} theories {and} reasonings and every proud {and} lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought {and} purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),

Josh 6:3 You shall march around the enclosure, all the men of war going around the city once. This you shall do for six days. Josh 6:20 So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, they raised a great shout, and [Jericho's] wall fell down in its place, so that the [Israelites] went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. Josh 6:21 Then they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox, sheep, and donkey, with the edge of the sword.

Introduction

  • Have you wondered why many Christians live in defeat?
  • Have you wondered why good Christian people, loving God, zealous for God fail and make some terrible mistakes or failures?
  • Have you wondered why many leaders and powerful people one way another fail, fall or even backslide?
  • Have you wondered why many Christians do not walk in the Word or do not appropriate the Word in their lives?
  • Have you wondered why many Christians are weak?
  • Have you wondered why probably you yourself are not enjoying the victory and the good life that is promised in scripture?
  • Have you wondered why many people live in contrast to what the Word says?
  • Does that mean that the Word of God is failing?
  • I believe part of reasons for failure is the ignorance of Who God is, Our responsibility to success and failure to realize that we are in war.
  • I believe the reason people fail is because they are comfortable in mediocrity, they are comfortable in failure, they settle for substandard lives and claim it is God's will.
  • It is high time people get fed up with failure, until you because discontent with your current situation, you will not progress.
  • If you are content with renting, walking without a car, the type of house you live in, the type of work you have, the type of life for your children, you will not change
  • Some people are living in the old outdated days, do not repeat the kind of life you found your parents living, do not send your children to the schools you attended, make a change. It is not just about sending your children to school, its about exposure!
  • Aim for more, aim for better, even some of you send your wives to give birth to clinics & hospitals you should not. Develop, be uncomfortable with less! Do good things for your wives, do not repeat the treatment your father gave your mother. Take your wife out for lunch, super, holiday, etc. We are not in the olden days, be up to date.
  • People come to church every Sunday and get ministered to but do not go out and change their lives but instead continue as usual. There is no evident of the impact or change in their lives.
  • People fail to realize that we are in war
  • Many people or their lives are a junk heap, anything coming, they accept, they do not have doors and controls in their lives.

So the king called the Gibeonites--now the Gibeonites were not Israelites but of the remnant of the Amorites. The Israelites had sworn to spare them, but Saul in his zeal for the people of Israel and Judah had sought to slay the Gibeonites-- So David said to the Gibeonites, What shall I do for you? How can I make atonement that you may bless the Lord's inheritance? The Gibeonites said to him, We will accept no silver or gold of Saul or of his house; neither for us shall you kill any man in Israel. David said, I will do for you what you say. They said to the king, The man who consumed us and planned to prevent us from remaining in any territory of Israel, Let seven men of his sons be delivered to us and we will hang them up before the Lord at Gibeah of Saul, [on the mountain] of the Lord. And the king said, I will give them. But the king spared Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, because of the Lord's oath that was between David and Jonathan son of Saul. But the king took the two sons of Rizpah daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth, and the five sons of [Merab] daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite. • Ps 29:4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
                          • Is 66:14 When you see this, your heart shall rejoice; your bones shall flourish like green {and} tender grass. And the [powerful] hand of the Lord shall be revealed {and} known to be with His servants, but His indignation [shown] to be against His enemies.
                          • Ex 15:6 Your right hand, O Lord, is glorious in power; Your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy.
                          • Ps 62:11 God has spoken once, twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God.
                          • Ps 63:2 So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory.
                          • Ps 66:3 Say to God, How awesome {and} fearfully glorious are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power shall Your enemies submit themselves to You [with feigned and reluctant obedience].
                          • Ps 93:1 THE LORD reigns, He is clothed with majesty; the Lord is robed, He has girded Himself with strength {and} power; the world also is established, that it cannot be moved.
                          • 1 Cor 4:20 For the kingdom of God consists of {and} is based on not talk but power (moral power and excellence of soul).
                          • Col 2:10 And you are in Him, made full {and} having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].
                          • 1 Pet 1:5 Who are being guarded (garrisoned) by God's power through [your] faith [till you fully inherit that final] salvation that is ready to be revealed [for you] in the last time.

                          • To understand God, we need to understand that He is not or does not only have one quality, He is all the above and more.
                          • The bible says God does not change, what He showed Himself as He still is today!
                          • We are safe when we understand God as with different qualities so that we take advantage of the good and avoid the judgmental qualities
                          • For example, it is dangerous to provoke God to anger, jealous, etc
                          • Even so, we, as the children of God, we are to have some of the above qualities except those that are only exclusive to Him like, vengeance, jealousy, etc
                          • One of the qualities that we have and must develop is the fighting / warring spirit.
                          • TO BE CONTINUED!

                          Resistant Mentality / Attitude

                          Resistant Mentality / Attitude

                          1. Introduction
                          i) In January 2009, I talked about the solider mentality
                          • Word translated soldier also denotes; spreading out, taking position, an army, from the camp or base
                          • So, as ministers of the gospel, we are to live like an army of Christ encamped and ready for war!
                          • Our attitude should be like that of a soldier, always ready to strike.
                          • It is also implicated that we are always on duty, always in camp, no off duty!
                          • Soldier does not entangle himself with civilian issues.
                          • Our target or aim is to please our Chef!
                          • We do not seek to be admired by the civilians but please our Boss
                          • Soldiers seek to please their leader and fulfill the leaders’ vision; they do not have their own!
                          • We need to follow the vision of God and our leaders!
                          • One of the problems we have in church today is that everybody wants to issue instructions, very few like to take orders and instructions!
ii) On 020110 I talked about friendships
                          • So, we have a difficult task of evaluating our relationships
                          • Some friends we need to drop
                          • Some friends we need to scale down, reduce or minimize our relationships
                          • Some friends we need to develop and increase our relationship with
                          • Some friends need to be divided into particular sectors depending on their resourcefulness, skill or giftings.
                          • Know when to need them and when not to, know their strengths!
                          • Even Jesus had different classes of friends, He had Mary, Martha Lazarus, He had the other Marys that were providing for Him, He had the disciples, even among the disciples He had the inner circle Peter, James & John!
                          • Some friendships are temporal, some are permanent
                          • Some friends need to be searched for and new friendships developed!
                          • I pray God that you be able to link up with Him, move higher and receive His best this year 2010 and always!
iii) On 160110 I talked about Kingship & Victory
                          • We realized that our Rock is not like their rock, even the enemy admits that he is defeated
                          • We are kings in our domain and our word is final
                          • The devil does not have any power / authority in our lives unless we allow him to.
                          • We are certain and guaranteed of victory in Christ

                          2. Resistant Mentality / Attitude

                          • Invest more in line with your dream, when you want to be a doctor, pursue medicine studies, have doctor friends / mentors, buy medicine books/ material, read more along those lines, prepare yourself even before you get the opportunity to actual go to college.
                          Young's Literal 1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand in the faith; be men, be strong;

                          • For instance, I am in the process of evaluating my friendships, I designed a form showing > Name, Type Of Relationship, Strengths/ skills, etc, Weaknesses, Relationship level, Evaluation.
                          • We have registered a company with my wife; next week will be opening its bank account and checking on Zimra registration, there are projects we want to start by March 2010.
                          • We are working on moving out of town to live in a plot for some time until we are financially stable.

                          3. Conclusion
                          • We need continue with a soldier mentality
                          • We need to continue evaluating our relationships
                          • We need to understand we are kings and are victorious in Christ
                          • We need to develop a resistant attitude, refuse to be discouraged, refuse to quit, refuse to be diverted from our vision
                          • We need to strengthen ourselves
                          • We need to take “prophetic” actions according to what we believe and move in the right direction
                          • We need to lift up our standard to match our faith & vision, do more than the normal, do more than what we were doing
                          • Move higher!

                          Friendships / Relationships

(Prepared by Pastor H. for Youth Service at BIC Lobengula 020110)

                          CHECK YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

                          A.Protocol

•I want to acknowledge my wife here present.
•I appreciate the opportunity afforded me to speak at this important service
•I want to appreciate you all that came here and others that come from far places

                          B.Introduction

•As we start the year, among other things, check your relationships or friendships
•Your friends may determine how far you go
•Some friendships need be reviewed in the context of cutting them or reducing them
•Some friendships need to be strengthened or developed
•If you want to know how a person is, check the quality of friends they have
•I strongly believe in my heart that as a church, it is time to move on higher in the things of God
•I am not of those that put significance in years and numbers, but, I believe this is the year and time to move higher, it is the time to experience God!
•But, some will remain, if you are not going, sorry, we are going!
•In the past year(s), I have been patient in many ways, I have controlled myself, I have accommodated many things, but its time to move!

                          C.Example Of David

1 Sam 29:1 NOW THE Philistines gathered all their forces at Aphek, and the Israelites encamped by the fountain in Jezreel.
1 Sam 29:2 As the Philistine lords were passing on by hundreds and by thousands, and David and his men were in the rear with Achish,
1 Sam 29:3 The Philistine princes said, What are these Hebrews doing here? Achish said to the Philistine princes, Is not this David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me these days and years, and I have found no fault in him since he deserted to me to this day?
1 Sam 29:4 And the Philistine princes were angry with Achish and they said to him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place where you have assigned him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he become an adversary to us. For how could David reconcile himself to his master? Would it not be with the heads of the men here?
1 Sam 29:5 Is not this David, of whom they sang to one another in dances, Saul slew his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
1 Sam 29:6 Then Achish called David and said to him, As surely as the Lord lives, you have been honest {and} upright, and for you to go out and come in with me in the army is good in my sight; for I have found no evil in you from the day of your coming to me to this day. Yet the lords do not approve of you.
1 Sam 29:7 So return now and go peaceably, so as not to displease the Philistine lords.
1 Sam 29:8 David said to Achish, But what have I done? And what have you found in your servant as long as I have been with you to this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?
1 Sam 29:9 And Achish said to David, I know that you are as blameless in my sight as an angel of God; nevertheless the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.
1 Sam 29:10 So now rise up early in the morning, with your master's servants who have come with you, and as soon as you are up and have light, depart.
1 Sam 29:11 So David and his men rose up early in the morning to return to the land of the Philistines. But the Philistines went up to Jezreel [to fight against Israel].
1 Sam 30:1 NOW WHEN David and his men came home to Ziklag on the third day, they found that the Amalekites had made a raid on the South (the Negeb) and on Ziklag, and had struck Ziklag and burned it with fire,
1 Sam 30:2 And had taken the women and all who were there, both great and small, captive. They killed no one, but carried them off and went on their way.
1 Sam 30:3 So David and his men came to the town, and behold, it was burned, and their wives and sons and daughters were taken captive.
1 Sam 30:4 Then David and the men with him lifted up their voices and wept until they had no more strength to weep.
1 Sam 30:5 David's two wives also had been taken captive, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess and Abigail, the widow of Nabal the Carmelite.
1 Sam 30:6 David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged {and} strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
1 Sam 30:7 David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, I pray you, bring me the ephod. And Abiathar brought him the ephod.
1 Sam 30:8 And David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them? The Lord answered him, Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.
1 Sam 30:9 So David went, he and the 600 men with him, and came to the brook Besor; there those remained who were left behind.
1 Sam 30:10 But David pursued, he and 400 men, for 200 stayed behind who were too exhausted {and} faint to cross the brook Besor.
1 Sam 30:11 They found an Egyptian in the field and brought him to David, and gave him bread and he ate, and water to drink,
1 Sam 30:12 And a piece of a cake of figs and two clusters of raisins; and when he had eaten, his spirit returned to him, for he had eaten no food or drunk any water for three days and three nights.
1 Sam 30:13 And David said to him, To whom do you belong? And from where have you come? He said, I am a young man of Egypt, servant to an Amalekite; and my master left me because three days ago I fell sick.
1 Sam 30:14 We had made a raid on the South (Negeb) of the Cherethites and upon that which belongs to Judah and upon the South (Negeb) of Caleb. And we burned Ziklag with fire.
1 Sam 30:15 And David said to him, Can you take me down to this band? And he said, Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring you down to this band.
1 Sam 30:16 And when he had brought David down, behold, the raiders were spread abroad over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing because of all the great spoil they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.
1 Sam 30:17 And David smote them from twilight even to the evening of the next day, and not a man of them escaped, except 400 youths who rode camels and fled.
1 Sam 30:18 David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken and rescued his two wives.
1 Sam 30:19 Nothing was missing, small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything that had been taken; David recovered all.
1 Sam 30:20 Also David captured all the flocks and herds [which the enemy had], and the people drove those animals before him and said, This is David's spoil.
1 Sam 30:21 And David came to the 200 men who were so exhausted {and} faint that they could not follow [him] and had been left at the brook Besor [with the baggage]. They came to meet David and those with him, and when he came near to the men, he saluted them.
1 Sam 30:22 Then all the wicked and base men who went with David said, Because they did not go with us, we will give them nothing of the spoil we have recovered, except that every man may lead away his wife and children and depart.
1 Sam 30:23 David said, You shall not do so, my brethren, with what the Lord has given us. He has preserved us and has delivered into our hands the troop that came against us.
1 Sam 30:24 Who would listen to you in this matter? For as is the share of him who goes into the battle, so shall his share be who stays by the baggage. They shall share alike.
1 Sam 30:25 And from that day to this he made it a statute and ordinance for Israel.
1 Sam 30:26 When David came to Ziklag, he sent part of the spoil to the elders of Judah, his friends, saying, Here is a gift for you of the spoil of the enemies of the Lord:
1 Sam 30:27 For those in Bethel, Ramoth of the Negeb, Jattir,
1 Sam 30:28 Aroer, Siphmoth, Eshtemoa,
1 Sam 30:29 Racal, the cities of the Jerahmeelites, the cities of the Kenites,
                          1 Sam 30:30 Hormah, Bor-ashan, Athach,
1 Sam 30:31 Hebron, and for those in all the places David and his men had habitually haunted.

•Here we see that the success David’s destiny lied squarely on him.
•Yes, he had friendships/ relationships and he used them at different times.

Types of friendships / Relationships (David case study)

                          1.The Philistine Lords
•That friendship / relationship could not continue, they chased David away
•David had to go back, the companionship was not strong, they did not trust him, you can not walk together if you do not trust each other
                          •Friendship is about trust
•Sometimes if you cannot trust each other, it’s a fake relationship, consider cutting it!
•When David was sent back, it was a blessing in disguise; he found his family taken captive.
•Had he continued in that relationship, he was not going to be able to trace back his family, he had wasted time in a wrong relationship which almost cost him his family.
•What is holding you? Are you not in wrong relationships at the expense of your family & true friends?
•Turn back from some relationships this year!

                          2.The whole army (600)
•The whole army wanted to stone David
•These were the people that were supposed to encourage him but were rising against him!
•At times, everybody may seem against you.
•You need to know that when nobody seems to have faith in you, encourage yourself in the Lord!
•Sometimes your friends may not see the vision that you see, move on, others will follow later
•Seek God’s grace and direction, David fell back on the other anointing that the rest of the army did not have, the priestly anointing.
•There are times when you may not get strength and encouragement from friends, fall back to your skill and anointing!

                          3.The weak soldiers (200)
•Some friends, you need to leave them for some time, they are weak
•They cannot continue with you, they are weak to grasp the vision, if you wait for them, you will not achieve anything, they will delay you.
•Leave them and may be you will catch up with them later!
•If you do not move on and leave them, you will not progress and there will be no progress
•Know the strengths and weaknesses of your friends, know where and when to use them and when to leave them.

                          4.The strong soldiers(400)
•Identify those who are strong and willing to move on, go with them
•Encourage those that are strong, move on with them!

                          5.The evil strong soldiers
•Not everybody who is strong is good
•Be careful even in your inner circle, there are some with wrong motives / attitudes
•Use their strengths and gifts but no when to rebuke and correct them
•Not everybody who is always with you is necessarily a good friend!
•Some are selfish, they may not necessarily celebrate your victory or success, they are dangerous!

                          6.The boy
•The above are basically about friendships we always had that need evaluation
•But, there are new relationships that you need to identify and create this year and always
•It is not easy to identify and start new friendships but it is necessary
•Some of the new friends need you to help and support but they are very key to your success.
•David fed this little boy who was left by his friends to die, but to David, he identified potential and resourcefulness
•Identify new friendships, identify people that have your destiny but are currently seeming useless and un resourceful!
•There are people that have squandered their chance of developing me into their friend, they did not see much in me, there are some people that I tried to relate to but ignored me!
•But some are now looking for me, some are still avoiding me now but they will look for me in future, it may be too late!
•Do not judge people or friends by their current state, judge by your inner being, have a vision and see!

                          7.The elders
•There are people that you will not always go with
•There are people that you will associate with at far intervals but who act as you counselors and advisers whom you do not need to forget
•Go and submit to them, get their wise counsel, give them gifts.
•You may not see their resourcefulness on a daily basis but you will need them to be anointed king!

                          D.Conclusion

•So, we have a difficult task of evaluating our relationships
•Some friends we need to drop
•Some friends we need to scale down, reduce or minimize our relationships
•Some friends we need to develop and increase our relationship with
•Some friends need to be divided into particular sectors depending on their resourcefulness, skill or giftings.
•Know when to need them and when not to, know their strengths!
•Even Jesus had different classes of friends, He had Mary, Martha Lazarus, He had the other Marys that were providing for Him, He had the disciples, even among the disciples He had the inner circle Peter, James & John!
•Some friendships are temporal, some are permanent
•Some friends need to be searched for and new friendships developed!
•I pray God that you be able to link up with Him, move higher and receive His best this year 2010 and always!
